When I was younger, I used to be a real 'people person.' Times have changed though...

I seem to mostly dislike everyone I meet. I'm satisfied just hanging around the house and doing things with my wfie for the most part. The reasons for this are many:

1. Most people have no problem stealing, lying, cheating, or basically doing WHATEVER it takes to make themselves happen at the expense of others as long as they thing they can "get away with it." (boy, that was a long sentence)

2. Relates to #1 in a way. Most people who claim a religious denomination just piss me off! Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of really great souls out there. The VAST majority of people only seem to go to church, and say they 'believe' for a few selfish reasons: Fear of going to Hell. Wanting everyone to think they're 'good people.' It just seems that rarely you find ANYone who just does the right thing because it's the RIGHT THING!

3. People suck!

Yeah, I think that basically sums it up...

I hate that I've lost faith in people, but that's the way things go I guess. I'm destined to be a BITTER old man

I'm sorry to hear you feel this way. I have had times when I would tend to agree with you. Those times were generally when I had just been ripped off or lied to. In general I think most people are good. I enjoy people in general that is one of the reasons I read blogs. I enjoy hearing about other people's experiences. I hope people manage to change your outlook before you become that "bitter old man".

I hope so too.

Since you mentioned getting ripped off, here's a prime example...

So, as I've mentioned in an earlier article, my wife and I play a lot of Dark Age of Camelot. It's a pretty fun MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game). We had reached a certain point where we played enough and it was decided that we needed more than 2 account between us. We could use the third account to run a 'buffbot' which is just a character than follows you around casting spells on your main characters to make you stronger and such...

The game at this point wasn't very old yet, so there weren't tons of account available on EBay and such yet. Not many people were experts on the exact 'how-to' of buying and selling accounts either.

So, we end up buying a character and spending a few months enjoying having a new little buddy to run around with us and make us OH-so-powerful. We go to log in one morning, but the login client is telling us that our account name/password is wrong. "That's wierd!"

So, after trying unsuccessfully to log in for awhile, I call Mythic customer support (for the first time ever) and they ask me for my 'Secret Word.' I felt like I was on PeeWee's Playhouse, but she wasn't kidding.

I said, "What Secret Word? I didn't know there was such a thing"

"Yes sir, every account has a secret word, and the owner of that secret word is the owner of the account"

Well, since I didn't ever KNOW there was a secret word for each account, I hadn't made sure to get the secret word for the new account.

To make the long story a little shorter, the guy stole my money and probably didn't feel bad in the slightest.

ie People Suck!

I am hoping that that wasn't an example of your worst injustice. I have know idea of how old you are but I am 33 and have had many harder cases toward the whole "people suck" mentality including having a furnace service guy going into my bedroom closet and steal things. Bad stuff like that seems to stick in one's mind more piogniantly than the good yet, if you try, you will see that the majority of people are good, kind people who are experiencing the same sorts of things you are. It only takes one freak to mess that up sometimes.

Nope, definitely not the worst... just the thing that came to mind.

I'm 27 by the way.

Since I'm complaining... I remember when someone stole ONE of my t-tops for my old '83 cutlass. Boy, that REALLY sucked! They only made cutlass t-tops in '82 and '83 so I had it took me awhile to track a new one down (which is probably why someone just stole mine). Then it costs like $700 or so, and I had to wait until it got shipped down from Illinois to Texas.

I was on a date when it was stolen too, so that made it especially fun

Darling, you are so very young to be so bitter and down on people...I thought I was the only one! I'm in agreement with you...people do SUCK!

If anyone doubts how much people really do suck, just imagine the world if all laws were removed.

...just imagine...

It's fear of punishment and retribution that keeps most people in check.

I guess I am lucky because I meet mostly kind, generous people. My neighbors are like family to me. I meet people all the time that are considerate and helpful. I am a realist though. I know there are always bad elements out there. I resent those individuals that make you lose faith in human kind. Those that rob you of your ability to trust.

I got a good look at both kinds while serving as a juror on a murder case last year. There were the defendants, scum of the earth, and the jurors who were true to their duty for their fellow man. I got chastized because I wasn't willing to lie my way out of jury duty. Noone "wanted" to do it. It was the week leading up to Christmas. The bad guys were as bad as they get and the good guys gave them a fair trial and brought them to justice.

Sounds like your wife is a good guy fighting bad guys right now. Best wishes.

most people today are suspicious of others because they have been hurt.

people today are many yet are cut off from their feelings because of what they hear on t.v. and see on the news and movies. so much hyprocracy in the so called christian churches make people angry. then they have other angry people living near them so they want to pay them back or anybody back . we really need to get back to reading the bible and following it whole souled. pray to our creator JEHOVAH for help in dealing with our anger and realise that the devil is the one causing us to give up on people. the greatest commandment is to love our neighbor as ourself.

Sorry Lacy, but that hasn't really helped humanity in the past
